School and Community Programs Roster

2008-2009 roster search begins now!

Every year, Kansas City Young Audiences recruits new programs and talent for its roster. Our current roster features 66 ensembles made up of over 165 artists and presents 124 programs in creative writing, dance, drama, music, and the visual arts. These programs include performances, workshops, and professional development seminars for teachers.

Performing and visual teaching artists are encouraged to create arts for learning programs to join the KCYA roster.  A panel of teaching professionals reviews all applications.  More information about the program development timeline is within.

The deadline for new program applications is November 16, 2007.
The deadline for staff preview of applications is November 1, 2007.

Teaching artists already on our roster do not need to reapply!  This application is for new teaching artists or for new programs by current teaching artists.

While we give full consideration to all programs submitted, we are looking to create a more diverse roster of artists and are in particular need of literature or literacy themed programs, visual arts workshops, and programs for pre-school and early education children.

A panel of teaching professionals reviews all applications.   You may also see a Young Audiences Rubric to assist with program design and development.

ArtReach Roster

ArtReach is the community outreach program of Kansas City Young Audiences (KCYA).  KCYA has provided arts for learning programs in the greater Kansas City area since 1961. In 2006, KCYA engaged 208,000 children in programs designed to use the arts to teach core curriculum and inspire children to discover their own creative talents and passions.

After school classes, 50 minutes in length, can accommodate up to 15 students maximum, and each ArtReach program culminates in a mini showcase for family and friends during the final class session.  ArtReach classes will be available for after-school programs and community centers in both urban and suburban areas.

ArtReach class ideas are always welcome.

Community School of the Arts

Teaching Artists may submit their resumes throughout the year.  We are always considering new programs and instructional offerings based on the strengths of our teaching artists.

Please note that we operate the Community School of the Arts on a trimester schedule.  We offer 13 week long sessions in the Fall and in the Spring, with a 9 week Summer session.  Planning for each of these sessions begins approximately 3 months in advance.
